REPLANT.REDUCE.REUSE.RECYCLE.RETHINK.

Avon has a new campaign. I have to say, I love it and hate it at the same time. Im all for charity and donating for a good cause but in a way I think that this campaign has it a little bit backwards. Hello Green Tomorrow and Avon are helping the environment by planting a tree for every dollar that is donated. I think that this is AWESOME……BUT for ever dollar that is donated they will give you a Tree Certificate Flyer. I don’t know but I don’t think its wise to use more paper unneccessarily if this campaign is trying to replace the trees that are now 93% gone in the Atlantic Rainforest. The good thing about the flyer is that it provides you with “green” tips for every day. Nonetheless, it’s a great idea and I’m in.

SMALL ACTIONS ADD UP TO BIG CHANGES. 

JAMES FRANCO. JAMES FRANCO. JAMES FRANCO

Could he be more amazing? I love James Franco. Genius I think. Seriously. He just got accepted to Yale very recently. For his PhD in English no less. The man is a freaking genius and all around renaissance man. Hes already a published author, painter, acclaimed, actor, and on and on. Not to mention, he is drop dead gorgeous. This is the total package. Where can I find me one of these???

HAS SPRING FINALLY SPRUNG??

I really hope so!!! It has been too cold for Texas. I went to the mall on Saturday and it was an absolutely beautiful day. A tad windy but better than this winter weather and rain! Outside the entrance to Macy's I saw the first sign of Spring..I hope its hear to stay....so I snapped a few pics with my camera phone.

Going to Happy Hour alone

Well I normally dont do this...actually I never have. But when you are supposed to meet people at a location normally they show up! I got stood up by a friend and I was at the bar twiddling my thumbs so I said,"Hey I better make the most of this situation." So I ordered a drink and soon there after made friends. It was pretty cool. I met a cool guy from Chicago and we hit it off great. I told him of my plans to visit Chicago soon and he illustrated this for me on a napkin...I thought it was wonderful!

So I tried....I was going for Audrey Hepburn

I love her so much. Her style was impeccable, classy and timeless. I went to a birthday party with a black and white theme..I found this silk dress with butterflies sprinkley all of the bottom portion and a black bow cardigan, then I slicked my hair with copious amounts of hairspray. To say the very least am a fashion lover but I am still a novice and over time I feel I have my very own style and edge...but here are some pics of my try at Audrey......

Beach Boys Concert

So previously I blogged about this concert...I havent really talked about it but I sure did have fun!!! I made many many videos which I will post at some point. The downloading process annoys me. Well I took a few pics...this one is pretty cool. I was looking to capture the guitar..I thought it was wicked awesome! Who'dathunkit? Glen Campbell was awesome! Before the concert I only knew of him from the pop culture reference to "Rhinestone Cowboy" in the movie HIGH SCHOOL HIGH. I also didnt know he was a member of The Beach Boys at one point in time. Overall he was cool but his guitar was cooler....lol

Its snowing in Texas in March

Unbelievable. The weather has been so random this Spring. It doesnt even feel like Spring and this is TEXAS! Home of hot weather. Never snow. I cant help but feel that this weather and the weather around the world(i.e Earthquakes in Haiti and Chile) is a direct effect of the cause GLOBAL WARMING. Human beings are sending the Earth to he11 on a shutter. Its rediculous how oblivious we are to the destruction and chaos that we are cause. I feel morally obligated to do something. ANYTHING. I know that I am only one person but every little bit helps. We need to start making drastic changes, if not for ourselves but for our children and their children. So on and so forth. Im definitely going to start making changes in the way I live and become a more eco-friendly person and lover of the environment. The time for change is now. It's time to step up everyone and make the world a better place....I sound like a old pop song...

Here are a few tips I found online to get us started.

excerpted from eco website
http://www.ecologyfund.com/ecology/res_tips.html

Eco-Friendly Tips

We have listed more than 10 ways to help the environment. We couldn't stop adding to the list. If you'd like, send us more ideas.

1. Bike, use public transit, carpool to work, drive slower, keep your tires inflated
One-third of all traffic is commuters. Use alternative transportation when possible. If you must drive, go slower with proper tire inflation. It saves both fuel and tires, and lowers emissions. It also saves lives.
2. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Compost
Reusing packaging material saves more energy than recycling. By avoiding extra packaging, you save both energy and landfill space. Yard and kitchen waste (leaves/grass/vegetable scraps) are 30% of trash. Reduce this amount by composting. Also be sure to re-use plastic bags, or better yet... refuse plastic bags when you really don't need them.
3. Conserve water
Don't let faucets run. Never water your lawn at midday. Place a brick in old toilets. Take low flow short showers. Run the dishwasher only when it is full. Let grass grow longer. Plant native or drought-tolerant garden plants.
4. Quit smoking
Second-hand smoke is a major indoor air pollutant and health hazard. When you quit, both you and your family will lead longer and healthier lives.
Don't use pesticides/herbicides on your lawn
Along with nitrogen fertilizer runoff, these are major water pollutants.
5. Keep your cat indoors
Domestic cats kill over one billion small birds and animals every year (1 outdoor cat averages 40 kills per year). They upset natural predator/prey balances and eliminate ground nesting birds.
6. Eat less meat/eat more local and organic foods
Feedlots are a major source of organic pollution. Tropical forests are cut to raise beef.
7. Lower your thermostat in the winter. Raise it in the summer
Wearing a sweater in the winter and short sleeves in the summer saves energy and reduces pollution.
8. Dispose of old paint, chemicals, and oil properly
Don't put batteries, antifreeze, paint, motor oil, or chemicals in the trash. Use proper toxics disposal sites. Never buy more than you need.
Consider the environmental costs of major decisions and purchases
When relocating or changing jobs try to live close to work. Compare efficiency when purchasing new cars or appliances. Buy fewer things. Choose products with lower energy inputs.
9. Volunteer/Lobby for the Environment
Work locally and globally to save natural places, reduce urban sprawl, lower pollution and prevent the destruction of wilderness areas for timber and oil.
Plant a tree with a child
Take a walk in the woods, or plant trees which store CO2. Teaching our children to love and care for the planet is the most important thing we can do to insure the future of humankind.
10. Wash dishes by hand in a basin, and then use the dish water for outdoor gardens.

MY FAV OUTFIT RIGHT NOW

LOL. I WORE THIS TO GO GET MY HAIR CUT AND GO TO THE CONCERT. ITS REALLY MY FAVORITE AT THE MOMENT. I LOVE MY ASSYMETRICAL PADDED JACKET AND MY STRIPED TANK...IT ALL CAME TOGETHER WITH MY GRAY BEANIE AND SOME FLATS.

I may not always love youBut long as there are stars above youYou never need to doubt itI'll make you so sure about it....

I went to The Beach Boys concert this past weekend. It was awesome. Best concert Ive ever been to thus far. The openers were more entertaining that I expected. I went into with scepticism because I normally do not like watching the opening acts and these were two old guys(Glen Campbell and BJ Thomas) and I didnt know any of their songs but I actually did! BJ Thomas sings "Hooked On A Feeling" and "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" and his voice was like budduh baby. Glen Campbell put on a great show as well and he plays a mean guitar. It was a sweet guitar too....white and bright baby blue. The Boys were everything I hoped for and more. I was screaming the songs and recording videos....you can hear me in some of the videos acting a fool. A few tall glasses of wine will do that to a girl. Anywho. I had a blast to say the least and more pics and video coming soon.

xoxo

KILLING ME SOFTLY

Alcohol is killing me softly, actually slowly. I cant do it anymore and you know what, thats a good thing. I focus so much energy on partying and going out to have a good time but nine times out of ten, I dont have a good time. It's time for me to say goodbye to an old friend that has been there for a long time. I thought I could slow it down but even now it still affects my functionality. Im done. So cheers to me.......

Favorite Girl

I was really down about my hair and thinking of letting it grow out but looking at all these pixie cuts, Im definitely going shorter next hair appt. Winona Ryder always brings me back. She is my original icon of style and beauty.

My Ideal Haircut

I would really love to rock the pixie. Ive come very close so far...Im still wanting to do it but Im also wanting to grow my hair back. When I think of pixie, I think Mia Farrow and she actually looked better with short hair. Some people just do. Winona Ryder also. I love her hair short. Only a small group of people can pull of short hair...especially that short....maybe these pics will help me decide...also including random pics of Mia ...her face is exquisitely delicate and beautiful.

LOVING THE GLASSES. GO BIG OR GO HOME

soooooo

Todays first blog was supposed to be an homage to Mia Farrow. Well really her pixie cut in Rosemary's Baby but then as I was searching for the perfect pictures I found ........... DAISY .......one of my favorite literary characters of all time. She is heartless and self-centered and breaks the heart of my other favorite character with no remorse....Gatsby. I love her. Im not sure if she just doesnt care or has no idea of the consequences of her actions. Im leaning more toward her being as cold-hearted as she is beautiful. Her fragile exterior masks the inner workings of a hardened soul. She reminds of Katherine in Wuthering Heights, another literary masterpiece and high on my list of favorite reads but I digress.

ADVANCED STYLE IS THE NAME...CHECK IT OUT AND THE ARTICLE....HERES THE LINK, IT DOESNT SHARE DIRECTLY TO BLOGGER....BOO. LOL

Google’s Doodles
Design| By ALICE RAWSTHORN| March 16, 2010, 3:49 pm

Courtesy of Google
Drawing: Etch A Sketch for Jackson Pollock’s Birthday, A Pollock-Inspired Logo.
Imagine that you and a fellow Stanford computer science grad have just been given a $100,000 check to bankroll a new business. The Burning Man festival is coming up, and you both want to go. What do you do? If you’re Google’s Sergey Brin and Larry Page, you make a rough sketch of the wooden effigy that’s burned at the festival, add it to your Web site as an as an “Out of Office” sign and set off for the Nevada desert.

That was 1998, when the two moguls were just starting Google. Since then, dozens of “doodles” have popped up on the home page to celebrate everything from Thanksgiving and Halloween to the birthdays of Charles Darwin and Andy Warhol, World Water Day, the launch of the Large Hadron Collider and the opening of the Olympic Games. Each doodle is an illustrated version of Google’s everyday logo. It appears on the relevant day, then disappears.

Like all corporate symbols, Google’s doodles are intended to tell us something about the company. So, what is it trying to say? That it’s into art, science, sports and the environment but isn’t too snooty for Halloween? Spot on.

LOUIS VUITTON SHOW

WELL I honestly have to say I was not wowed by the collection. Some of the coats were pretty amazing but all together I wasnt liking it. It was sort of "grandma" to me. I expected better but I love Marc Jacobs. I do. I just think its a different era.
But as Im going through the collection Im starting to love it.....I need to blog about a collection after Im finished, not midway thru.
There were several looks that I added to my lookbook on style.com but some looks were just too bulky. The floral I loved! He brought out a few of my fav models. of course they are all in victorias secret or were at one point. Adriana, laeticia, and another model I just cant rememeber her name at the moment. VS model also.

What did you think?

TWO THINGS EXCITED ME THIS MORNING, I UNCOVERED A GREAT APP AND A WEBSITE. BOTH ARE PROBABLY NOT NEW TO SOME, BUT THEY ARE TO ME SO I AM HAPPY.

1. BLOGGER.COM APP NOW I CAN POST AND VIEW OTHER BLOGS FROM MY PHONE.

"doesnt she look classic?" - Cher in Clueless

Recent fashion trends are lending themselves to be very girly and feminine. I think the floral motifs and dresses are very reminiscent of old school glamour like Liz Taylor and Audrey Hepburn. I love the saying, Whats old can become new again. I think thats another reason I never really like to part with my old clothes because I know that they can come back into style at some point. So in honor of the new trends I am posting pictures of one of the most beautiful actresses/women of her time...and any time. ELIZABETH TAYLOR......timeless, classic, effortless, beautiful...all traits I hope that I possess or can emulate....

also, it seems the most handsome men were from that classic old school hollywood era as well...i might sneak in a few pics of my favorites.
